Penn State Recruiting Class continues to grow

Penn State has had a good week - and Penn State had a GREAT night last night.

4 big time recruits committed to PSU this week - 2 OL (Logan-EL and Walton) - 1 DT (Taylor) and, as you may have seen on TV, local boy, Pat Devlin (QB), backed off of his commitment to U miami (we have Larry Coker and his golden guillotine to thank for this one).

PSU is sweeping up in the state of maryland (thank you Dwill) - of the 25 top recruits coming out of that state, Penn State has 7; actually, they have 7 of the top 10 (1,3,5-9).

Depending on whether you read Rivals or Scout - PSU has the 5th or 6th recruiting class in the country.

There are a few more whispers in the wind about some other "re-commits" = we'll have to see -

PhillyBlog signature

As you know (I'm assuming), I am the moderator of the Sports Forum at Phillyblog.com - We have a great thread going about PSU Football. I was (I admit) a little tentative about starting a PSU thread in a Philadelphia forum - those fans are tough - but another poster (after an off-board tet-a-tet) started the thread last summer and it's been great. As with this blog, it's fun to go back and see what I (and others) wrote back in the late summer/early fall and how our sentiments shifted as the season progressed.

As you can only imagine, I have dominated the postings on the thread - I can't help myself.

ANYWAY - my "signature" on Phillyblog has been (since mid-season) the following:

Ivan: My first question: Can you spell Posluszny?
Pat: No I cannot. But I can spell Paterno. We've had 40 years of practice. It's very relevant again.
Ivan: It's P-O-S-L-U-S-Z-N-Y. Pronounced: Con-lan, or Ar-ring-ton. --Ivan Maisel and Pat Forde, ESPN.com

I'm thinking of changing it (gasp! horrors!) - but I couldn't bear the idea of it just evaporating into the internet ether - so I wanted to "immortalize" it here.

With the announcement of Posluzny's return for his senior year, I hate to change it - but I can keep it ready for September!!!

Well, the zips came up short - 5-2

Champs Sports Bowl: Clemson vs. Colorado

The only Bowden win of Bowl Season - 6-2

Insight Bowl: Arizona State versus Rutgers

Crap those Knights put up a fight. No fair that they had to play in Arizona! 6-3

MPC Computers Bowl: Boise State vs. Boston College

Well, the home crowd and blue field didn't help - guess God picked BC this year... 6-4

Mastercard Alamo Bowl: Michigan vs. Nebraska

Huskers won, in a really controverisal UM got a taste of what it feels like way. 7-4

Emerald Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Utah

Utah won. bleh - 7-5

Pacific Life Holiday Bowl: Oregon versus Oklahoma.

O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A! So Ducks, still think you deserve a BCS bid? That wasn't very nice, but..... 8-5

Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl: Minnesota vs. Virginia.

Gophers let me down. Good luck next year Al (Golden). 8-6

Vitalis Sun Bowl: Northwestern vs. UCLA.

nuther B10 loss - oh well - UCLA did have a great start to the season and NW has no defense to speak of... 8-7

Independence Bowl: Missouri vs. South Carolina.

Okay, I can't really figure out who I picked for this one. but, since I'm an opportunist, and I really do hate Spurrier, I'm going to go with the handsome coach theory and say I picked Mizzou - 9-7 (hey, if they let bobby count those Samford wins...)

Chik-Fil-A Peach Bowl: Miami vs. LSU

LSU stomped them - good job tigers - 10-7

Meineke Car Care Bowl: South Florida vs. NC State.

Great job guys, you really tore them to shreds (said in Mickey Mouse voice) - NC State won. 11-7

AutoZone Liberty Bowl: Tulsa vs. Fresno State.

Fresno State lost their offensive coordinator (who has become even more offensive by joining the unc staff) and the game. 11-8

EV1.net Houston Bowl: TCU vs. Iowa State.

Good job toads. 12-8

Cotton Bowl: Texas Tech vs. Alabama

Tide rolled. 13-8

Outback Bowl: Iowa vs. Florida

Apparently you don't "gotta go" with the B10 - 13-9

Toyota Gator Bowl: Louisville vs.Virginia Tech.

Marcus Vick should have been ejected - end of story. 13-10

Capital One Bowl: Wisconsin vs. Auburn.

Now, here's the one I should have bet!!!!! Way to go Badgers! 14-10

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Notre Dame vs. Ohio State.

Well, the stinky horse chestnuts made me actually root for them. Although my main chant became "Evil Sweater Vest" as I pounded on the sofa - Score was MUCH closer than the game - 15-10

Nokia Sugar Bowl: West Virginia vs. Georgia.

This was a tough one, and as the game started, I found myself leaning toward the Mountaineers - it was nice (in a strange way) to see them vindicate the Big East. But I'll stick to my "UGA" statement... 15-11

Not too bad for sheer bias.
