Women's Volleyball dominated play in the regional semi-finals and finals - crushing Michigan and BYU. The Lions now travel out to Sacramento, CA for the final four. The team's goal all season has been to win a National Championship, after stumbling in the regional finals last year. Their next opponent is California (who upset #2 Nebraska to advance). Stanford (1) and USC (5) complete the bracket. Penn State plays at 11pm (EST) on Thursday evening - the match will be broadcast on ESPNU and tape delayed broadcast on ESPN 2 Friday, at noon.
The men's basketball team gutted out a win over Seton Hall in overtime (89-86) - the Big Ten "guys" (on BTN) had some very nice things to say about the Lions - albeit during a segment called "Other than MSU and Indiana..."
The women's basketball team endured a defensive/shooting nightmare of a game against Georgetown. The shooting was not good on either side (the score was 9-8 at the 11 minute mark - it was a little painful to watch) - but the Lions played good defense and rebounded like champs, utilizing their height advantage, etc, and held the Hoyas to 47 points, while scoring 56.
AND - the #5 PSU grapplers upset #3 Oklahoma State. It's the Lions' first win over (that particular, but not "the") OSU since 1993.
