The Penn State Women's Basketball Team held off a 2nd half surge by #10 ranked Duke Sunday evening.
Penn State played very well in the first half with minimal turnovers, sharp outside shooting and excellence from the charity stripe. At half-time the Lions were up by 11 points!
The Blue Devils came out after halftime with a sense of urgency and they chipped away at the PSU lead little by little - but the Lions kept finding ways to stay ahead, by 2, 3, 4 points - until the end of the game and some sloppy passing allowed Duke to tie the game with just 8 seconds left - overtime, right? NO! Brianne O'Rouke sprinted down the court and passed inside to Janessa Wolff, who hit a layup from directly under the basket - PSU wins!
It was great - and a treat to see the Lady Lions on television. The team was very energetic and determined - they played extremely controlled and disciplined (for most of the game) - Excellent.
In other news - the Women's Volleyball team advanced to the 3rd round on the NCAA tournament on Saturday (after crushing Albany) - they face Michigan in the regional semi-final on Friday.
