(Again) Everything Old is New Again - PSU faces notre dame in NIT semifinals

Well, what's new about it is that it's a basketball game.

Penn State will play notre dame in the semi-finals of the 2009 NIT tournament.

The game is Tuesday - and will be telecast on ESPN.

I caught a bit of the nd/kentucky quarter-final - nd has good outside shooters and is pretty tenacious on defense.

BUT! WE ARE...PENN STATE!

Go. Go State Go.

PSU Men's basketball faces florida tonight in gainesville in the quarterfinals of the NIT tournament.

A win will send the Lions back to Madison Square Garden.

Let the games begin - Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament 2009

The Big Ten Men's Basketball tournament starts(ed) today -

Penn State (6) plays Indiana (11) tonight at 5pm (EST) on ESPN2 -

The games are being played in Indianapolis - so it's certainly not a "gimme" game.

And, of course, the winner faces Purdue tomorrow (and yes, the games are still in Indianapolis).

A few good wins in the tournament would go a long way to convincing the PtB that PSU deserves an at-large NCAA Tournament win (of course a tourney win would result in an auto-bid).

There have already been some "upsets" in other conferences - PSU will have to step up in order to secure a spot in the dance.

Such a Night - Nittany Lions come back to defeat Illinois

I'll admit it - I did. I switched off the PSU Illinois game last night - the Illini trotted out to an early lead and I (as it would turn out, mistakenly) gave in to the "I don't want to watch this" and "I'm just jinxing them, let's watch Hell's Kitchen" emotions. Every time I flipped back to take a peak at the "carnage" - they were on commercial - so - I missed, until I watched it on ESPN 2 (after the finale of ABDC), one of the best game endings in PSU basketball history.

Talor Battle drove to the basket, and as his shot dropped with .3 seconds on the clock, Penn State won, 64-63. The crowd went crazy and the ESPN basketball guys LOVED it. They see PSU as a "throw away the key" lock for the NCAA tournament -

We'll see, in 9 days or so.

but for now - it really was such a night
